Small-Duct High-Velocity Systems (SpacePak)
Even, quiet, perfectly controlled comfort for new construction and custom homes — delivered through compact 2-inch ducting that fits where conventional ductwork can't.
ExactAir designs and installs SpacePak small-duct high-velocity systems for new construction, custom homes, and major remodels across the Everett-to-Seattle corridor. Compact 2-inch supply ducting and high-velocity outlets create an aspiration effect that delivers fast, even temperatures and excellent humidity control — and we're one of the only certified installers in the region.
A straightforward, customer-first process
Design & engineering
We engineer the air handler and 2-inch duct routing into your plans, coordinating with your builder, architect, and the other trades.
Certified installation
As SpacePak-certified, fully insured installers, we install the system to spec and pull every permit under our GC license.
Commissioning & walk-through
We balance and verify the system, then show you how to get the most even, efficient comfort from it.
Small-duct high-velocity is a different way to heat and cool a home. Instead of bulky rectangular ductwork, a compact air handler pushes conditioned air through flexible 2-inch supply lines that route through wall cavities and floor systems, finishing in small, unobtrusive outlets. The high velocity creates an aspiration effect that mixes the air in every room — eliminating the hot and cold spots that plague conventional forced-air systems and giving you fast temperature changes and superior humidity control.
ExactAir is SpacePak-certified and is one of the only contractors offering true small-duct high-velocity systems from Everett through the greater Seattle area. It's a specialty we're genuinely passionate about, and one that very few installers in the region have mastered. We focus this system where it shines: new construction, custom homes, and large remodels where the design can be engineered in from the start.
Built for new construction & custom homes
Small-duct high-velocity is at its best when it's designed into a project from the beginning. On new construction and custom builds, we engineer the air handler location and the 2-inch duct routing alongside the framing, so the finished home gets whole-house comfort with almost no visible footprint — no soffits dropped to hide oversized trunk lines, no compromises to your architecture. For large remodels and additions, the compact ducting reaches spaces that conventional systems simply can't, preserving ceilings, plaster, and trim.
Because the system is engineered to the home, we coordinate directly with builders, architects, and other trades — something our general contractor background makes seamless. We pull the permits, sequence the work, and deliver a system tuned to the exact home it serves.
Why homeowners and builders choose it
The aspiration effect is the headline benefit: high-velocity outlets gently circulate the air in every room, so temperatures stay even floor-to-ceiling and room-to-room, and the system responds quickly when you adjust it. The same airflow strips excess humidity in summer for a noticeably more comfortable home, and the compact, insulated ducting runs quietly.
For a custom home, the design freedom is just as compelling. Small, round or slotted outlets blend into ceilings and walls, freeing your architect and you from designing rooms around return-air grilles and bulkheads. It's premium comfort that respects the finished look of a high-end home.
Pairs with high-efficiency, cold-climate equipment
We pair small-duct high-velocity air handling with the same high-efficiency, cold-climate inverter heat pumps we trust across the Puget Sound region — equipment rated to keep heating well below freezing. The result is a system that delivers even comfort and strong efficiency through both our long, damp heating season and our increasingly hot summers.
Every project starts with a proper load calculation and a clear, good/better/best proposal. We'll tell you honestly whether small-duct high-velocity is the right fit for your project — it's a specialty system, and we only recommend it where it genuinely makes sense.
HVAC air balancing for even, room-to-room comfort
One room always too hot while another stays cold? That's an airflow problem, and the fix is air balancing — measuring the actual airflow at each register and adjusting dampers, returns, and blower settings so conditioned air is distributed evenly through the home. It's the same principle our high-velocity systems are built around, applied to the system you already have. We provide HVAC air balancing across Everett, Snohomish, Woodinville, and the greater Puget Sound area, and it's one of the most cost-effective ways to fix uneven temperatures without replacing equipment.
Air balancing is also the finishing step that makes a new furnace, heat pump, or ductless install actually perform — a correctly sized system still disappoints if the air isn't reaching every room. We balance airflow on our own installations as standard, and we're glad to diagnose and correct airflow on an existing system that has never felt right.

Small-Duct High-Velocity FAQs
It's a heating and cooling system that moves conditioned air through compact 2-inch ducting at higher velocity, finishing in small outlets. The high velocity creates an aspiration effect that evens out temperatures and controls humidity better than conventional forced air.
We focus small-duct high-velocity on new construction, custom homes, and large remodels, where the system can be engineered in from the start. For existing homes without ductwork, ductless mini-splits are usually the better fit, and we install those too.
We're certified on SpacePak small-duct high-velocity equipment, and we're one of the only certified installers offering it from Everett through the Seattle area.
The aspiration effect and tight, insulated ducting deliver very even temperatures and strong humidity control, and we pair the system with high-efficiency cold-climate heat pumps. We'll show you the performance and cost trade-offs for your specific project.
Absolutely. We hold a general contractor license, pull our own permits, and routinely coordinate with builders, architects, and other trades to design the system into the project cleanly.
